Quality Perfected Over Decades
The Rose Family has been farming in WA's Wheatbelt for more than a century. Beginning in Cunderdin at the turn of the 20th century, the family moved to the rolling hills near New Norcia after World War II.
Western Hay proudly carries forward the legacy established by Richard's father, John Rose, who transitioned to hay production in the 1980s following the decline of the wool industry. Surrounded by hay crops from an early age, Richard developed a passion for producing high-quality cereals. By 15 Richard had started his own hay contracting and share farming venture. In 2006, Richard and his wife Melissa purchased a 172-acre plot next door to the family farm and founded Western Hay.
Today, we boast a state-of-the-art chaff mill equipped with cutting-edge technology, incorporating steam and an extensive dust extraction system. Western Hay continues the tradition of producing superior fodder, perfected over generations, and sustainably farmed year after year.
